Abstract:
We use numerical simulations to show that ultra-broadband (i.e., a spectral bandwidth of more than 500 nm) speckle imaging enables the simultaneous recovery of high-resolution spatial information and low-resolution (i.e., a mean observing wavelength over spectral bandwidth of around 13) spectral information for resolved targets, over a wide range of atmospheric turbulence conditions. This result opens the door for both improved identification and characterization of targets, from LEO to GEO, and studies of the aging of materials in space.
