Abstract:

A novel comprehensive effort that incorporates theory and computer simulations, to investigate excitation of whistler waves in the F-region ionosphere. This research aims to explore the efficiency of the beat-wave excitation mechanism for generation of whistler waves. A beat-wave frequency is created in the ionosphere due to parametric interaction of two high frequency (HF) pump waves launched from the ground.  We will predict optimal conditions for the whistler excitation based on the HF wave characteristics and F-region ionospheric plasma parameters. We are interested in the development of analytical model  to demonstrate possibility of establishing reliable  communications via whistler waves generated in the ionospheric F layer in the process of parametric interaction of high frequency (HF) electromagnetic waves launched from the ground.
