Abstract:

We show that high-quality 3-D wave front sensing can be achieved using a single imaging Shack-Hartmann sensor and a multi-aperture phase retrieval algorithm that captures the temporal correlations in the wave front using a frozen flow model. This approach, which yields reconstructed wave fronts at the appropriate heights throughout the 3D volume, extends the correction of a scene to the diffraction limit over a field-of-view that is significantly larger than the size of the isoplanatic angle, with a Strehl of over 0.6 for turbulence conditions of D/r0~70.
