Abstract:
The Office of Space Commerce is planning to select a conjunction screening algorithm for their operational space traffic management program. To achieve this, a set of requirements and validation strategy is needed to enable successful selection. To that end, the Office of Space Commerce tasked The Aerospace Corporation to develop a set of requirements and an evaluation strategy through a collaborative assessment of SpaceX’s operational conjunction screening algorithm. The result is a set of algorithmic accuracy requirements for conjunction screening, an assessment strategy to achieve those accuracy requirements, and a positive validation of the SpaceX screening algorithm against Aerospace’s trusted CA tool, CSieve, for operation in low Earth Orbit (LEO).
